David Moody – Director
Hi, I’m David Moody, MCIWM. I have been working in the waste and related industries for over thirty years, beginning my career directly in the waste sector.
Starting DM Assist
After leaving BGCL, I founded DM Assist to continue my dedication to the field I have committed my career to. My goal is to leverage the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the years while continuing to expand my expertise. I have cultivated many industry connections and friendships, and I look forward to assisting you with your future projects.
Experience…
For the first twelve years of my career, I worked at Shanks and McEwan Ltd (now part of WRG and FCC Environmental Ltd). Many professionals in the waste industry started at “Shanks,” and I often encounter former colleagues from that time. I began my journey at the pit (or tip) face and gradually advanced to managerial roles in landfill, recycling, and composting. Eventually, I transitioned to the brownfield redevelopment market, joining the former Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd.
At BGCL, I qualified as a Technically Competent Manager (TCM) under the WAMITAB scheme at Level 4, enabling me to operate both Mobile Plant Permits (MPP) and site-based permits for deposit for recovery and landfills. My role included waste compliance management and training personnel at all company levels to enhance internal knowledge. Additionally, I provided external training to clients and suppliers. Throughout my career, I have been involved in numerous challenging and high-profile projects, achieving many industry firsts. My experience includes negotiating with stakeholders and authorities to deliver complex redevelopment projects.
“I possess a wealth of experience in applying for, managing compliance with, and surrendering environmental waste permits. I am also skilled in integrating these permits with other licenses, permissions, and exemptions necessary for facilitating large projects.”
